Young Scientist Award
Winners:
At ISSB 2010 three young scientists have been awarded with the Young Scientist Award, which was endowed by Lundbeck AG (Switzerland). The winnes were each awarded CHF 1000.-. Our congratulations!
Marie-Noëlle Levaux (Belgium), Unit of Cognitive
Psychopathology, University of Liège
Ms. Levaux’s research focuses on the development and evaluation of an
individualized cognitive rehabilitation approach for schizophrenia patients.
In this approach, the functional difficulties in daily life associated with the
individual profile of the cognitive dysfunctions of the patients are analyzed in
detail and the treatment targets and cognitive rehabilitation strategies are
tailored to these difficulties.
Stephanie Mehl (Germany), University Hospital of Psychiatry and
Psychotherapy, Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn
The research of Ms. Mehl focuses on the relationship of social-cognitive
and emotional processes with the formation and maintenance of positive
symptoms of psychosis. Particularly, she investigates the associations and
interactions of social cognitive biases such as the externalizing bias, theory of
mind deficits or negative self-schemata and delusions of persecution.
Steffen Landgraf (Germany), Humboldt University Berlin; Centre of Evaluation and Clinical Research, Sainte Anna Hôpital, Paris
In his research, Mr. Landgraf focuses on the information acquisition
strategies of schizophrenia patients. He investigates how patients adapt
their information acquisition strategies to the task-specific requirements.
Thereby, he studies whether the dysfunctions of schizophrenic patients in
working memory could partly be due to an inflexible use of visual
information processing and acquisition strategies.
