The symposium will be held at the Centro Stefano Franscini (CSF), the international
center for seminars of the Technical University (ETH) Zürich and the Canton
Ticino. The center is located on Monte Verità above Ascona in the Italian
speaking south of Switzerland (Canton Ticino).

The center lies amidst woods with a beautiful panorama of the mountains (the Alps) and the lake (Lago Maggiore). Ascona is a famous small village on the lake within a short distance from the town of Locarno. The railway station of Locarno is approx. 3 km from Ascona and the symposium venue. The closest airport is Lugano (see below).

The closest international airports are Zürich in Switzerland and Milan (Milano/Mailand) in Italy
- You may use a direct flight to the small airport Lugano-Agno (see CROSSAIR ), then
take a train to Locarno (Lugano-Locarno: 1 hour ).
- If you arrive at Zürich airport, either use a connecting flight to
Lugano-Agno (see CROSSAIR
) or use the good Swiss railway system.
- If you arrive at Milan-Malpensa, take a northbound train to Locarno, preferably
via Lugano (direct trains Malpensa-Lugano 8.30am, 11.30am, 4.30pm and 7pm).

via the Gotthard tunnel: A trip on the international
railway connection through the Gotthard is a nice way to enter the canton Ticino.
Modern express trains travel hourly to Bellinzona with connection to Locarno.
via the Simplon line: The Centovalli train takes you from Domodossola directly
to Locarno (very romantic scenery).

from the north take the A2 Autobahn Basel-Luzern/Zürich through the Gotthard tunnel (no fee, but frequent traffic jams), or the Gotthard pass; from the east, travel via San Bernardino (tunnel or pass) or Lukmanierpass; from the west, take the road over Nufenenpass or Centovalli valley. Northbound travel from Italy on the A2 is straightforward (Ascona is on the southern slope of the Alps).
