The central theme of this chapter is that the sciences of complexity are rich in relevance for those who practice psychotherapy. Conceptualizations and enactments of psychotherapy are diverse, of course, and the profession itself is in the midst of important transformations. It is beyond our present scope to address the range of that diversity or the effects of those transformations. Our more limited goal in this chapter is to elaborate the relevance of studies of complexity for clinical practice and psychological services.
